Reviews of Geales Restaurant

Dinner at Geales started off early- 6:30pm, meaning the music-less dining room lacked atmposphere, but became bustling by our leaving- 8:30pm. Good service, but £52 ex.tip for two pollock&chips with a bottle of wine makes the idea of getting a chippy takeout and having it with a bottle of Bolly at home seem a more sensible idea.

I LAST VISITED GEALES IN 1976! I AM PLEASED TO SAY IT STILL LIVES UP TO ITS REPUTATION AS ONE OF LONDON'S BEST SEAFOOD RESTAURANTS. THE RECENTLY REFURBISHED INTERIOR IS SPOTLESS AND THE SERVICE (BY PAWEL) WAS EXCELLENT. WINES ARE REASONABLY PRICED.

Geals Restaurant. I still remember & mss the old Geals, &the fact that Skate Wings was on the menu daily. £12.00 for skate & chips - wonderful! The new face of Geals is modern & more expensive but the food is still excellent even if now in smaller portions. The place holds fond memories so I shall keep going back but not on a week day night as I used to for a reasonably priced bite. This is now an expensive night ourt or like my last visit, a venue to take clients. Waitresses are amazing!

Perfectly cooked fish and chips. The chips were some of the best I've had in London. Wish they would serve with more tartare sauce and mayo. But the fish was cooked to perfection. The lobster was juicy and tender as well. Overall a very good dinner, you won't be disappointed, but the bill was not cheap.

The seafood at Geales is just superb. And with the special Lobster Offer on Wednesdays also very much affordable. Though it was colder the heaters allowed us to sit outside in comfort. The ambience is elegant but relaxed at the same time. An excellent venue to make it your (albeit upmarket) local! Suitable for groups as well as romantic nights as always just the right buzz. Will definetly return many times.

Nice place. We ate at Geales late on a Tuesday. The restaurant appeared to be full and service staff were clearly stretched, but remained friendly. Both of us chose traditional haddock (fresh and moist), chips and mushy peas and enjoyed them all - despite too much batter! Recommended. we shal return.

Geales Restaurant – we really enjoyed the meal and our waitress was very pleasant. When we arrived I felt like the man who “welcomed” us was doing us an enormous favour! And they completely ignored my request on Toptable, in fact he said the words “Toptable” with clear contempt, totally unnecessary for an otherwise lovely restaurant!

I had too high expectations for Geale's for their fish & chips but they were just OK. The batter was delicious but the chips were a bit bland. A good experience overall but not great and might not return.

A long awaited night out to the institution that is Geales Restaurant behind Notting Hill Gate did not disappoint, the Maldon Oysters - superb, beautifully battered haddock, chips and green beans a delight that we didn't want to end. The refurbished decor is smart, however the prices have obviously increased to match and at approx £35 a head this makes for an expensive if not smart 'fish supper'. The only thing it lacks - backround music - otherwise a very enjoyable evening.

I went to Geales hoping to get good seafood in a casually elegant setting, and it totally hit the mark. My companion and I both had the sea bream (one of the evening's specials) and agreed it was delicious, and cooked perfectly. Our starters, dessert, and the wine were all equally enjoyable as well. Will definitley be going back!

We had a b'day dinner at Geales on Saturday night. We had an early PM booking, so I was surprised that they had no fishcakes left from their standard menu and only 1 special. The white wine we ordered was also out of stock and the food was disappointing. Although all the staff were friendly & helpful, it was unfortunate that a glass of red and half the bottle was knocked over my boyfriend when our table was cleared. They did remove it from our bill, but it was a dissapointing night all round.

Have heard raving reviews on Bloomberg about its fish 'n chips, and it didn't fail to impress. Batter was best I've ever had, and I'm not even a fish 'n chips fan normally! Cod was fresh. And service staff were polite. Puds were alright, though less impressive than the mains, but then again, this restaurant wasn't recommended for its puds!
