Reviews of Gars Chinese

I always really enjoy my meals at Gars. The service is exceptional, the food is always wonderful and tastes fresh and free from all the MSG that is usually associated with Chinese food. We were seated upstairs, where I had never sat, in a booth and it was perfect as it gave us privacy, loads of space and nice cushioned seats.

Lovely meal at Gars Chinese, very clean and overall received good value for money. Loved the taps in the toilet!

We went to Gars chinese restaurant on a friday night, we had a really good table upstairs. The food was excellent and it was brought to our table within 15 mins of ordering. Couldn't fault the service either. I would definatley recommend this restaurant.

Gars Chinese was a mixture of not only Chinese but Japanese and Thai cuisine, which was good for food variety. The duck pancakes are a defininite recomendation here, was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm, so ideal for couple and for group get togethers

Gars is a mixed bag in every sense. Some of the food is excellent %u213 the salt 'n chilli ribs and steamed seabass for example %u213 and some is quite mediocre. Good service, but I wouldn't recommend sitting downstairs - it's a bit sterile, and feels more like a corridor with a few tables than a real place to eat and relax. We looked upstairs at the end of the meal and it looked much more vibrant and atmospheric. Pretty good value. Pick your dishes and your table right and you'll be in for a treat.

| visited Gars restuarant with my sister and two friends. We were given choice of the £20 set menu or the a la carte. £20 menu had a slightly limited choice so we went for a £29.95 menu. What can I say about the food, it was amazing. We had so much food for the money and it tasted great, we were extremely full afterwards. The staff were very friendly and timings of the service were good. Having been to Gars before I knew it would be good, but they excelled themselves this time. Best in town

Gars chinese was the venue for a recent meal for two. The food was both inventive and traditional with attentive service. Recommended.

The Gars Chinese Restaurant: We opted for the top table deal, which was 2 courses plus a glass of wine for £15 each, and we found it to be excellent. There was a reasonable choice for the set menu, and even caters for Veggies! The food was very nice, and even the house wine was yummy. All in all in really nice experience, and one of our favourates restaurants in Brighton! L & A x
