Reviews of First Floor Restaurant

First Floor has recently reopened for lunch - when we went we were the only customers however the room is so gorgeous that it really didn't matter. Very pretty and unique decor, good standard of food particularly for the money; we had a crayfish rissotto, halloumi and cous cous etc. Basically good gastro pub fare. Good discreet service. Only let down the loos - hard to find, no towels to dry your hands.

Went to First Floor Restaurant last night with 3 friends. A bit quiet when we walked in but got more lively as the evening went on. Bar downstairs really cosy for a drink before dinner. The food is delicious.. quite pricey but we had the 30% offer, so all good. The top floor feels a bit theatre studies ALevel set design, but overall the place is lovely. Best bit was the staff - super helpful and friendly, I was really impressed. Mates fish wasn't great but they knocked it off bill straight away.

First Floor first class for a fabulous relaxing laid-back Sunday Lunch, by a wide open window with fabulous views of Portobello Road, on a magical sunny & warm October day. Fabulous atmosphere, lovely moody music, & friendly service in a gorgeous Boho Shabby -Chic dining room with the sun streaming in onto the huge chandelier & extravagant candelabras. Delicious Sunday Lunch Roast with perfect, fresh & tasty veg, like home cooking. Wonderful, a memorable day - & a feeling that all is well !

Its fun introducung new people to First Floor as they always fall in love with it. The decor is beautiful and eccentric and its lovely to sit by the window looking out on to Portobello. It was very busy with a big party on saturday so the service was a little slower than usual but that really didn't matter. Delicious dinner beautifully served by friendly staff.

Service was a bit brash. Forgot when asked for more water. Brought mint tea long after deserts were served. Food was excellent though, and with 30% off, it was good value for money. I'd go again with the discount, but probably not without.

The ambience and service were good. The food was excellent, I have the sunday roast (beef) however, I the portion was small and I could have eaten it twice! Not great value for money but would be good for a business lunch/dinner.

First Floor is a great venue on Portabello Rd, cool interior, great food and very friendly staff. Decent bar downstairs as well where you can enjoy decent pre dinner cocktails. Prices are a bit punchy however.

The food at First Floor was quite good, although my main was lukewarm which, given the prices, I didn't think was acceptable. The 50% offer made the bill very reasonable but I wouldn't have been happy paying the full price, partly due to my food not being that hot, plus the main course for two of my friends arrived very late (to the restaurant's credit, they offered my friends desserts on the house). The service was friendly and attentive, but the ambience wasn't great - a bit subdued.

Would definitely recommend - the food was delicious and although quiet at the start, it had a good atmosphere which picked up later in the evening. Great for a large group.

It was excellent and one of the best Valentine's Day meals I've had in a long time.
