We had the early evening menu which was really good value. Staff were really friendly.

We had a great meal at First Coast. The food was excellent, and very good value for money. Service was exceptional. Decor is perhaps a little bland, but still pleasant. Overall - highly recommended. Will definitely go back.

First Coast is an unpretentious, friendly place with delicious food - fresh produce and some unusual choices. The Aberdeen Angus steak was particularly good as was the choc cheescake and cheese plate (great chutney too). Wine choice isn't vast but the wines are good and very reasonably priced.

First Coast can be a quiet spot for an early week lunch but the quality of the service and our excellent (and generous) main courses. Ony quibble might be that the lunch menu can look very similar if you go regularly.

Went to First Coast with the my girlfriend for a post valentine meal, mainly due to the positive reviews from Top Table and it's inclusion in the Scotlands Best book (and the fact she lives round the corner!) Had a great quiet table in the corner near the fireplace. Friendly, relaxed staff were attentive without being intrusive. I had the pork and ham starter and the sea bass special (with the best roast potatoes i think i have ever had!), heartily recommend it for any occasion!

For a city such as Edinburgh, next door to Port Seaton, a major landing port, there are not as many seafood/fish restaurants as one would expect. I hope this will change in future. At First coast the fish dishes and vegetarian options were well received, there being no carnivores in our group I cannot comment on those dishes. The staff are friendly and there is an informal ambience which is enhanced by a 'real fire'. A cosy spot in winter months.

Really very excellent service, attentive and friendly but unobtrusive. Rather confused mix of food styles in the menu (Thai, Continental or Scottish?) but all cooked with flair and confidence, especially when dealing with loud flavours. Generous portions. The good quality of the ingredients showed and meat and fish were cooked exactly as required. Glorious wall pictures although the lighting was unflattering to both people and decor. I have already recommended First Coast to friends.

First Coast is superb on all counts. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly - we were made to feel so welcome in a personal manner that was so genuine and not just for show. We loved it here and had a really fabulous meal. The wine was very nice too for a house red.
