Reviews of FireHouse

My visit to the Firehouse was with a friend I was looking for a place where I could have a nice meal with good company. I consider it to be a less perfect version of La Trompette. This restaurant is a fantastic place to visit. The food is consistent and the waiting staff friendly and generally prompt. My only minor issues were: * Little variety of mid range wines (ie a few £20s/£40s then hundreds of £100s). * Not all menu items were available. Other than that, a great place to go!

The appetisers were great. For a main I had the duck which both my friend and I thought to be rubbery and not very flavorful, it didn't taste very fresh. We sat with desert menus for 20 minutes before we were able to get someone's attention to order. As compensation for the disappointing main my espresso was complimentary. Having worked in bars and restaurants for 5 years, I found that surprising for a restaurant of this caliber.

A quiet dinner for two at Firehouse was excellent. Walking through a nameless door does give a certain air of exclusivity. The bar downstairs was OK, although somewhat expensive and not brilliantly decorated in my view. The restaurant upstairs though was wonderful. Very tasty food, good portions, a wonderful buzzy but intimate ambience and great service - an out of stock wine immediately substituted for a more expensive bottle was a highlight. I will very likely go back soon.
