We had no complaints with our meal from the Caverhsam, however we thought the wine menu was much better (and very good value for money) before Penta hotel took over.

The food at the Caversham is a little disappointing for its price band. It's nicely presented but the only thing we could recommend is the steak, which is excellent. The mushroom/brie tart starter was cold (was it supposed to be?) and the soup was bland, as was the vegetarian main, which I wasn't altogether sure of - the griddled parts had a "meaty/fishy" taste which I didn't like. Everything was ok, but nothing was outstanding although the steak was worth paying extra for.

I went to Caversham Restaurant in Reading with 3 others to try it out and was pleasantly surprised after reading the last few reviews. We had filet, sirloin steaks and a seafood pasta. All were of good quality. Service is Ok-ish, the waitress needs more experience. Point knocked off for dessert (samosa) not being a bit too cold. Bit quiet on a weekday which was when we went.

We enjoyed lovely food and excellent service at The caversham. The restaurant was rather busy yet the service was still fantastic and efficient. Was great value for money. We would reccomend this restaurant to friends and family without a doubt.

the restaurant was too brightly lit and cold.But the food was yummy and the adjoining bar was cosy and relaxing.
