Reviews of Baltic

Have been going to Baltic for a few years now and for the first time we thought standards were slipping when we visited this week. The food was still delicious but the staff seemed seriously overwhelmed and as a result service was really poor. We had trouble getting attention for coats, wine, water, menus etc. Our starters did not arrive for over an hour after ordering - we were famished. The toilets remain the most bizarre in London - are they so bad the lights need to be so low?

Baltic was welcoming and efficient but the lunchtime menu was relatively poor value, in both quantity and choice. On the other hand, service was impeccable, the (non-menu) desserts were excellent .......but perhaps the best of the whole meal was at the end - the complimentary final vodka, cold, red and invigorating.

Unlike the other times we've been at Baltic, this time the service was a bit less friendly, but the great food and the lovely ambience still provided us with a very good experience

My partner and I dined at the Baltic for our anniversary. I had been for lunch before, and really enjoyed it. Dinner did not disappoint. The food was delicious as always, nice wine, and a great atmosphere. The staff were helpful and friendly, but not overbearing. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Thoroughly enjoyable meal at Baltic. Easy to find and close to tube. Efficient service and good atmosphere though more than I'd usually pay for a meal.

Value for Money is really good in this restaurant! Food is excellent seasoned and has a wonderful taste! The ambience of the restaunrant looks from the beginning very nice and adequate for this kind of cuisine! Though the hall is quite big and this makes is a little bit loud! All in all, we are definetly back!

The Baltic is a great and unusual venue for some interesting and very good food. Friendly service too which is great. Ideal for a group or an upbeat night out but quite noisy so not recommended if you want romance and candlelight

We had a lovely dinner, the barman was a bit rude, but our waitress was very friendly and food came fairly quickly. Delicious starters and mains, very interesting selection, and very tasty! The bill was a little steep, so for special occasions only and the service charge was quite steep as well, on top of that. But overall, a lovely evening and I would recommend it to other friends for sure!

Baltic is a good find in an area of town that has nothing quite like it. Good buzzy atmosphere and hearty food.

3rd visit to Baltic did not disappoint. Although we arrived 40 minutes late we were welcomed warmly and shown to our table even though the restaurant was quite full. The food was as ever, tasty, and presented well. A really pleasant evening. Good friendly but unobtrusive service.

Gorgeous interior and the food was lovely. Would go back but there is a servere lack of vegitarian dishes. Could only have beetroot soup as a starter (which was divine!) but came with sausage roll type affair on the plate. Walnut and goats cheese salad was scrummy.

The Baltic-Blackfriars Bridge Road. Everything was very good-food and service with variety and an excellent daily menu. Toilets are a wee bit shabby, although clean. All in all a very good afternoon.

The Baltic has a good range of vodkas, some over priced. The vodka based cocktails are well executed. The food was nicely prepared, but the presentation did lack. The taste was however superb. The staff were helpful and accommodating.

Food was very good, espec the meat. Not cheap but pretty standard prices for London. Lively bar area. Definitely recommend it. My friend had a membership card that meant we all got a free vodka, you would have thought we had asked for free meals, total hassle. Some staff were miserablen and my main course arrived 10 mins after my 5 friends were served. But might have just been a one off, I would go again.

Baltic is my nearest restaurant and thus convenient for me. The food is good and the pricing is about right but the service is very variable.

It's not the first time we had been to Baltic, the 3 course set menu is fantastic value. The only dampner was the service, there were only 2 tables in use at the time we sat down for our meal.......how hard is it to get someones attention ?? Very hard when they seem to go out of their way to ignore you ! Same news at the bar, a smile maybe ? No?!! Thanks for the happy service as My group ended up spending at least £400 over an 8 hr period......when the place was empty. Still a good deal though!

Exceptional value for a Mother's Day Sunday lunch. The set menu was generous and perfectly proportioned. A good wine list and the service was very good, regardless of previous review of bad service. Liked the authenticity of the food.
