Balcony Bistro for pre theatre dinner. Great location outside terrace but noisy fountains make conversation difficult. We ordered mains and dessert. Mains came very speedily. My salad of Salmon and Mediterranean Prawns was very good and the girls like the lamb steaks which you cook to your own taste on superheated black stones. They enjoyed this and the lamb was very tender. Deserts were Ok although less unusual than the descriptions. We would go there again if attending Barbican event.

Balcony is ideal for meeting people for lunch during a working day. Service is quick and food is great.

Enjoyed pork, chorizo and beans at the Balcony Bistro after a Viktor & Rolf members' private view. Delightful 1970s modernist musack-free space with a lovely view, though we chose not to sit on the terrace. Our bill came to £53 for 2 mains, green beans, salad and a bottle of wine.

Balcony is good for a mid week lunch out.

Lunch at Balcony Bistrot. Friendly service, pretty quiet so not much of an atmosphere, but we ate outside which made it enjoyable. Reasonably priced food, average quality (goat's cheese and red onion tart). It both benefits and suffers from being in the Barbican - you wouldn't stumble across it by accident. Fine for a quickish lunch or pre-theatre/Barbican event supper.

Bincho is a contemporary Japanese eatery, the service was quick and efficient. The menu is not as expansive as I'd would of liked, suprised there was no sushi/sashimi dishes at all ! Recommended but not cheap.

Balcony Bistro - generally great food. had the daily special which was a huge fishcake on a bed of green bean salad. most creamy and delicious fishcake ever had! Great value at £11 white house wine was a decent argentinian chardonnay. However, dessert was a let down and has pulled down the scores; a very dry apricot tart with a tiny bit of creme fraiche on the side. I should have stopped at the mains really.

We ate at the Balcony Bistro before going into the cinema. An obvious choice due to ease of location, but it felt a little like a school canteen! The choice of food was very slim we all ended up with the burgers, which did taste good & the fat chips were great. The girls wanted to order Cosmopolitans as we were seeing SATC, but they'd run out of ingredients....on the 1st night!! The bistro had no real atmosphere but I suppose if all you're after is a quick burger before a show, it does the job.

Our early dinner last night at the Balcony Bistro didn't disappoint-from the minute we walked in we were treated very well: the service was attentive, timely and the food was very good, better than expected.I always am a bit wary of restaurants that are secondary to the venue (ie performance halls, museums and the like) but this one satisfied. It was just what we wanted, a leisurely bite before the show.

Very convenient for Barbican centre performances, but service was slow and there was no ambiance. However the food was fairly good and well priced. Toffee pudding was good but came out cold. Would only go again if it was the only option.

Blacony Bistro is a nice relaxing place to eat and stroll into a concert. Good food and prompt service

A bit concerned when we were offered a table with Bench seats in the Bar area rather than the main Restaurant section - but in fact Bar area in our opinion was more intimate and cosy. Bench seating was 'padded' and very comfortable, and Lighting and general ambience was lovely. Menu/Food and Service was excellent - we will definitely eat here again!

We had a late lunch at the Balcony Bistro for a friend's graduation celebrations. The restaurant is within the Barbican Centre, which was the location of the ceremony. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the restaurant and food. The Xmas menu was very good, with everything on offer: turkey, roast veg and xmas puds. A few good vegetarian options were also available. The service was friendly and the restaurant has a good atmosphere. Overall, a nice experience.

The Balcony is ideal for a low key lunch on a working day.
