We stayed in Agaric's B&B and were so impressed we wanted to try the restaurant. Our meal was lovely and we had a great night. The staff are really excellent. Only qualm was that the veggie main wasn't great. If you are staying over can't recommend the B&B more - it gets 10/10 from some really tough markers!

The Agaric in Ashburton, Devon has helped change this small town into a real centre for good food and great food suppliers. Hhave eaten here before and the quality, taste and presentation is generally first class. This time the Thai mussels and pork, venison and chicken terrine were great starters. Stuffed chicken thigh as main course was also first class however the Turbot was more bones than fish which disappointed. Desserts always very good here. Will go again and recommend others to try.

The Agaric menu was beguiling and our meal generally enjoyable.

Agaric (Restaurant with rooms) in Ashburton, is a find. There aren't too many good restaurants in South Devon. Although Agaric is a bit pricey to be described as a 'neighbourhood restaurant', the cooking is assured, the ingredients spankingly fresh, and the service excellent. Unfortunately Agaric closes for three weeks in August, which is a bit of a downer for holiday-makers, but presumably reflects the success of the place. If you can't afford dinner, you can go for coffee in the morning.
