Abstract is a lovely place with excellent food, atmosphere, attentiveness and sensitive music - highly recommend it.

It was a superb meal at Abstract. Even though we had the special deal we were not made to feel cheap as can often happen. The food was delicious and one of the starters looked like a piece of art, we were tempted to take a photo of it!

Very good resstaurant, booked using the offer, but having looked at the a la carte menu switched over, because it looked so good! It was!

Abstract was very nice for lunch and I would try it for dinner as we all thought very highly of it. Many thanks

Abstract is about to become my favourite restaurant. The prsentation of food and the attention to detail is excellent. The value for money set lunch is probably the best around - two course £12.95.

Whilst we enjoyed our evening at Abstract, it is not as good as similar establishments in Edinburgh. We had the tasting menu with paired wines, the food and wine was generally both imaginative and of good quality, although we felt improvements could have been made. However, the service was disappointing with a lack of attention to detail. When you're paying this much everything should be perfect. Abstract has the potential to be a lot better.

I went to abstract for my birthday and had a fabulous time. The market menu was absolutely delicous and superb value for money. My favourite restaurant in Edinburgh by far. I had high hopes after last time, and they delivered again!

Abstract is still the best value in town. Uniformly excellent 'tho front of house has lost some of its edge with the departure of Ludovic. Food of this quality is almost impossible to find at prices like this and makes fine dining available to almost all who eat out.

Abstract has the potential to be great, with its piano bar and nicely laid out tables. However, the restaurant itself was freezing & the food could have been hotter. The veg were actually cold. Despite this, it was cooked very nicely. The staff are helpful and not stuffy at all. If we go again, I will wear a jumper.

The service at Abstract is second to none. Food great. There was a large group in which made the restaurant noisier than usua but as this was lunch and not dinner it was acceptable. This is our third visit and I would recommend to anyone.

Have been before for dinner- set lunch is a bargain and a real treat Wine by the glass with lunch was not onverpriced either. One of my current favourites in Edinburgh

Abstract had a good amount of choice on their market menu (3 courses for 25 pounds) and some of the dishes were from their tasting menu. The restaurant was a little quiet but the service was excellent.

Great value. Will be back soon!

Abstract - Excellent food and atmosphere, efficient and professional, yet very friendly service. Thought the champagne a little over-priced at £15 per glass.

We had a fantastic dining experience at Abstract. The food was fresh, beautifully presented and tasted divine. The service was excellent and all the little extras made it a birthday meal to remember. I would definitely go back there.

Friendly, attentive and knowledgable staff - having the sommellier attend to our choice of wine as a matter of course was a neat touch. Decor/ambience was very up-market; lighting added to the relaxed 'feel'. Menu had good choice. Pace of meal was spot on. Food imaginative in the combination of flavours/ ingredients. A large-ish party arrived towards the end of our meal. We were thoughtfully taken to the piano bar for coffees - the live music made us sit on for drinks. Recommendable.

Lunch at Abstract on 28th February was simply superb. The cheese souffle starter was simply fantastic and I thought would be difficult to surpass (I was wrong!) The sea bass was excellent but the chocolate dome with orange sorbet stole the show. It looked fantastic and lived up to it. Only think else I wanted was more of the orange sorbet. The service was attentive but not intrusive. All served within an hour and not rushed. Outstanding value for such a superb lunch. Well done.

We had a wonderful dinner at Abstract last night. We all had the tasting menu at our table and, with the exception of a weird concoction of beetroot which was inedible, the rest of the meal was excellent, washed down by some delicious wines. I wasn't paying the bill but it clearly wasn't cheap judging by the expression of the guy who did pay but a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Not as good as on previous occasions

Abstract - although the food was good we have had better and paid less- the building is beautiful - the senior waiter could do with watching his other staff on how they deal and speak with their guests. Over all a pleasant evening
