We enjoyed our trip to '54' last night. There were 5 people in our party and enjoyed the 3 courses and glass of bubbly for £19.50. The menu had plenty of choices, the service was good - we were the first people there so the staff were very attentive. Great ambience, tasty food and the company of friends - brilliant night. I'd recommend to couples, groups - everyone!

54 serves delicious food in good size portions. The 50% off deal makes it extremely good valye for money. The pork belly was succulent and tasty with some pretty darn good crackling. My biggest complaint would be that the restaurant was freezing!!! I wore my jacket and scarf the whole time despite asking them to put the heating on. Sadly, this ruined the whole experience.

We had a fantastic time in 54 last night. I would highly recommend for people who are looking for a quiet dinner in a very nice ambience restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious, staff was smiley and helpful. Restaurant is well look after, is cosy and has a homey feeling about it, ladies toilet is jaw dropping (my husband said that gentlemen toilet is nothing like I described ladies. That’s why I haven’t given the full marks for toilets). Everything is getting even better with special deal 50% off food. We will definitely go back.

We dined at 54 on a Monday night, and although not the busiest night, we thought the staff we still very attentive and service was very good. The food was lovely and we all commented on how we would certainly visit again in the near future

54 has a unique menu. A choice between roti canai or duck terrine to start seems incongruous, but the food is done well, particularly the Malaysian food. My prawn curry was delicious, and my girlfriend's duck breast was very well cooked. With the 20% discount on toptable this was good value.

I took my boyfriend to 54 last night and although we were pretty much the only people there for most of the night it was a very nice evening. Very attentive staff and the food was very good. An interesting mix of Malaysian and English food. I had curry but my boyf had Duck! Generally a nice place worth the journey.

Tasty and friendly. The Akran Ikan (red snapper) was spicy and well cooked, the Roti Canai was well flavoured and my colleagues dishes all went down well. A few small gripes: the service was slow for a weekday lunch as the kitchen struggled with two large-ish groups. However, when it finally arrived the food was very good. The waiting were staff friendly and did all they could to put right the (very minor) problems we had with the delay and the portion size on one dish. Will go back.

54 were very welcoming & moved tables around to accomodate our request to sit the team together. Food was good, the Lamb shank a particular fave even though it wasn't included in the 50% off because it was on the specials board. I had seabass - got two good sized fillets. They made an error on the 50% discount (took too much off) but they honoured it. Would definitely go back.

We was very impressed with the food and service at 54. Nice atmosphere and lighting. The prices were reasonable and we really enjoyed ourselves there. Highly recommended.

54 was very nice for an after work dinner... Eclectic menu with asian dishes and a few random european ones thrown in, but generally something for everyone. Lovely pork belly main dish, but sauce just a bit too salty. Very busy for a Tuesday night which is always a good sign. Would recommend this restaurant for a more casual meal, or group meal...

Restaurant 54 was completely empty at 8pm which gave it an odd atmosphere. But the staff were friendly and the food good, although the lamb was not as good as the reviews claimed but the chicken surpassed expectations and the platter starter was very nice. The toilets were pretty poor but that didn't detract from a decent meal. Unfortunately the overall experience was nothing spectacular but if you want some decent food and your not trying to impress, go here.

Small restaurant with the kitchen tucked into one corner. Good mix of met/veg on the menu. Solid if not inspiring choice.

Second time here, still the most authentic in town for Malaysian food. May cost a little more than the usual Asian food but worth every penny. Fresh excellent cooking with concerted efforts in presentation.

54 is a great place for a relaxed, unhurried meal, with an interesting menu and friendly, attentive staff

54 is a very endearing place for the food, wine and service. Venue is middling but its charm is in the friendliness of staff, who offered to make up a noodle dish that wasn't on the menu for my friends who wanted noodles, and to let them share it as they weren't hungry. Only gripe is that the Malay dishes are under-spiced - esp not enough lemongrass where needed (eg in a panggang). Excellent wine list outstanding value. 50% off deal made it even better, but would go again anyway. Recommend.

54 had very good staff and service we had a nice leisurely meal and didn't feel like they were in a rush to get us to leave which was nice. The ambience was good and the people I were with were very impressed with the toilets. The food was generally good although the vegetarian I was with said that her option was rather bland.

54 has to be one of my favourite restaurants, the menu is great and the food is really tasty and fresh. The restaurant itself is quite intimate, so it's not too noisy and the service was very good. Definitely recommend for a romantic meal or meal with friends, and with 20% off it's quite good value as well.

54 was a great place to meet friends for a quiet Tuesday-night dinner. The restaurant wasn't full but there were enough diners to create a good atmosphere. Service was perfect and the food great value with the 50 per cent discount. Even with full-price extras like wine and coffees, the entire meal was excellent value for money as well as being a great evening out.

It was very quite, not many others around which meant better service for us. Our waitress was very attentive and the food was nice. I would recommend this place.

I didn't go for the Malaysian dishes at 54 on my visit because the selection on the promotional rate menu didn't include the lamb shank rendang which I would have ordered, but instead tried the slow roasted pork belly. It was nicely done but a bit too rich. Same with the mash. My date's duck was a good, solid dish. I would recommend the homemade ice cream, especially the blackberry sorbet. The chocolate fondant was also worth the wait (diners are informed on the menu it takes 20 minutes)

Enjoyed the Toptable offer on a Thursday lunchtime with some work colleagues. We had Seabass fillet and Beef Danseng as our mains, opting for a dessert rather than a starter. Meals were well represented. I enjoyed the delicate flavours of the fish I'm told the danseng was perfectly spiced and flavoured. Desserts were great. Recommended.

Our experience of 54 was great - lovely food (would recommend the beef curry) and great ambience. Would certainly recommend.

54 is a great find. We really enjoyed our evening, the food was delicious and more than your run of the mill 'modern asian' dishes. The service was great. With or without the Toptable offer The ambience/decor is basic but I would highly reccommend 54.

This is my second time at 54. The food was very good, though I was sad that the fish cakes starter was not on the menu. The service was a tad slow this time around, but it was busy.

This was my second visit to 54, and the food was as good as the first visit. Service a little on the surly side and puddings took ages to arrive but still a really nice place for a mid-week dinner with friends.
