Reviews of 1 Lombard Street - Restaurant

I was very happy with the whole experience at 1 Lombard Street. I arrived early and sat at the bar, cocktails were quite pricey but thats to be expected at a resturant of this calibre. The service was fantastic, two of my guests were quite late and the staff were exceptionally accommodating. Food was top notch, i felt the meat courses were a little overdone for my personal taste but the flavour and presentation more than made up for it. Ooh and the wine was FAB! All in all a great night out

One Lombard Street was a very civilised dining experience. The 9 course degustation menu for £45 pp presented excellent value - very tasty and well presented food.

1 Lombard Street does not pose any competition to other Michelin One-Stars aspiring to gain a second. The food was generally very good, using neither the most expensive nor most common ingredients in the degustation menu. Highlights were the Finan haddock and pear dessert. Temperatures were a strength of the meal, but most dishes came out a bit salty.

1 Lombard Street was disappointing. Service was poor (person showing us to our table pulled my wife back by the shoulder when she walked in front, whilst the dinner service was quite obtrusive). Food was very mediocre - we had the 5 course set menu - tuna was old, steak had gristle in it, and portion sizes were beyond tiny. The whole place felt like one of those very average hotel restaurants where you eat as everything else is closed. Not surprising the place was empty at 8pm on a Friday night!

1 Lombard Street is great for client lunches - food, service and ambience are all spot on.

We dined at 1 Lombard Street on the 5 course menu for £32. Each course was carefully put together and each ingredient added its own contribution to the dish perfectly. The wine guide was fantastic and made some excellent choices to complement the food. Overall fantastic and an ideal place to relax and eat in a relaxed environment.

1 Lombard Street has just become our favourite restaurant! Each and every mouthful was a wonderful culinery adventure. Even with what turned out to be over 10 courses (if you include the coffee and petit fours), we came away feeling pleasantly full, rather than stuffed. The staff were incredibly attentive. The wine that was suggested to us was perfect. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

1 Lombard Street is simply the best restaurant for business lunches & dinners. I delivers consistently high quality food, in excellent surroundings. well located. most importantly for business lunches, the tables are not too closely situated against another. excellent as always.

Great place, not too busy or loud. Ambience right. Staff very professional and dutiful. As with this type of venue and menu type, food portions tiny but beautifully prepared and presented and tastes wonderful. Great place, especially if going for 5 or 9 course set menu. Great wine less from cheap to really expensive but something for everyone.

The tasting menu at 1 Lombard Street looked exciting, but not all of the tastes lived up to expectation. The ambience definitely wasn't as decadent as I had been led to believe. The service was ok, but a bit slow at times (though never with producing food). It was a thoroughly pleasant evening, but won't be rushing back.

1 Lombard Street Restaurant - booked for a business lunch. Very happy with food and service - only negative comment was slightly small portion sizes (but then he is a big American!).

1 Lombard Street had quite a bare rustique feel. Food was prepared quite well technically but the combinations sometimes failed to impress. Service was efficient.

I had the 5 course tasting menu at 1 Lombard. It was extremely nice and the waiters were very courteous

1 Lombard Street - on the 5-course offer - not bad but a little soul-less - who says the credit crunch has no bite even at 1998 prices. Facade a little tired and lots of stuff just lying around the back of the bar area does not help that either. Food fine - as one would expect.

1 Lombard Street has pleasant decor & furnishing & the food is of a very good standard but not really the standard you would expect of a Michelin Starred establishment. The staff, whilst not overly friendly are fairly professional.

Had the 9 course degustation menu and it was brilliant! The dishes were well balanced and the taste was scrumptious. Service was good for a friday night, attentive but not intrusive. The ambience was rather featureless compared to the brassiere but the food more than compensated. A must for anyone looking for a michelin star meal on a budget.

The restaurant was unusually queit, but that made it all the better us. The service was excellent. We had the degustation menu and the food was excellent especially the haddock with quail eggs and the angus beef. the courses are small, but excellently presented. My wife is a foodie and I am not, but we both appreciated why it had a Michelin star.

We had the 9 course degustation menu and some courses were great like the beef however others were average and it didn't often feel like a Michelin starred restaurant.

1 Lombard Street Restaurant - what to say? now I know why in high season it takes weeks to get a table. the food is perfect and the presentation makes each course a little masterpiece. overall, a sheer pleasure to the eye and to the palate. On the down side, the room needs some freshing up. Being somewhat empty - Friday evening in January - we noticed that the walls could do with some paint and some chairs with reupholstering. since everything else is perfect so should be the room.

The food at 1 Lombard Street was undoubtedly good, but it was a bit pricier then I would usualy go for, and I don't think it was good enough to tempt me back.

The Restaurant at 1 Lombard Street - Nice attentive staff, and a quieter and more relaxing atmosphere than the noisier brasserie. The food was nicely balanced and well thought out, although a little pricey. The sliced scallops in my main course were all stuck together; Wouldn't expect that for £29.50
