Area Information

There are many visitor attractions in Weimar and the surrounding area. You can follow in the footsteps of the writers Goethe and Schiller, by visiting the Goethe national museum and Schiller’s former home, to name but a few. Other UNESCO world-heritage sites include the Widow Palace, the St. Peter and Paul Town Church, the Residential Palace, the Duchess Anna Amalia Library, Be sure to visit the Park on the river Ilm with its Roman House, the Tiefurt Palace and Park, the Belvedere Palace and Orangery as well as Ettersburg Palace. The Bauhaus museum, Liszt museum, municipal museum and Gingko museum are also well worth a visit, as is the nearby Buchenwald concentration camp.
