The Westin Maui Resort & Spa Ka'anapali, Lahaina

Overall fantastic - we'll go...

Liked: Fantastic location and view. It's a bit dated, but mostly well maintained. It had great amenities - everything we needed - and was perfect for both teens and adults.
Disliked: Both hot tubs need some TLC and the one that was covered (intentionally) in sand on the bottom seemed unsanitary. I appreciate the need for an adult only section, but there was no hot tub that teens could go into which would be greatly appreciated as the pools were very cold. Most staff were really great, but a few were a bit surly. A little more variety in the food options would be great for people staying more than a few days.

Disliked: Room coulda have been better. Super small couldnt move around our luggage. Pool was freeeeezzzing cold. No hot tub for kids. They couldnt go in that. Game room not running even listed on website that there is game room. Waste of --- dollar

Disliked: Wasn’t about the property it’s about. They charge me through Booking.com on a different card and then charged me again on my other card and put a $700 hold on my card that never went off I can’t figure out what’s going on

Liked: Location is good. Right next to the Whalers village and near Black rock beach!
Disliked: Staffs are very unfriendly and unapproachable, even rude. The check-in staff did not explain anything about extra charges or hold that she put on my credit card. Whenever I tried to ask something they were very annoyed. Will never go back to Westin Maui.

Exceptional

Liked: We loved our room. It had a beautiful view of the ocean and pools. We could see whales from our balcony.
Disliked: I think they should have a restaurant that had breakfast buffet. Ulu restaurant is a little overpriced. We did have breakfast there twice and dinner once.

Assured room location not received,...

Liked: Good access to the beach and good pools/hot tubs.
Disliked: Was initially placed in a room location that I specifically requested not to be located in ( overlooking hotel roof and the backside of Whalers Village). Then given option of a first floor walkout with no ocean view! Declined both and was told they had no “proof” of my initial request of room location! Should have booked directly with the hotel directly not through booking.com! After waiting for the desk manager was offered a waterfall view or ocean view handicapped room. With no other options offered took the handicap room which had limited lighting and room due to handicapped features in room. The one sink in the bathroom could not be used as a wash basin because you could never lift the handle to plug the sink because you could not lift the handle to plug the drain because the mirror above the sink was installed too low. Also, upon checkout found out they charged my credit card again for the full amount of the stay after payment in full was charged 4 months prior to our stay!
