Might have been scammed? Huge...
Liked: The unit was very large and included a kitchen. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast staff was exceptionally kind.
Disliked: I booked this unit on booking.com roughly 8 hours prior to arriving. While I was looking, it seemed there were lots of rooms available in the hotel based on how much was available online on third party sites and the hotels personal site. The hotel was also listen on Airbnb under an odd name. When I arrived to check in at around 10:00pm after driving all day long, the receptionist said that she had not received my booking from booking.com despite me showing her 3 confirmation emails including an email that stated it was a message directly from the hotel related to booking. She said they had no available rooms. When I said I didn’t understand how this could happen given booking.coms reliable reputation, she said it had happened multiple times before, to which I asked why the hotel has not looked into this further if it’s happened before. After some further back and forth discussion, she ”suddenly” had a room available for me but I had to pay a rate higher than what I had paid on booking.com. This all felt very sketchy and unbelievable. Because I was desperate I paid the higher room rate, that was roughly $35 more than the booking.com rate, and got a room for the night. When I called booking.com about this, they cancelled my previous reservation so that I wouldn’t be double charged and their customer service was extremely helpful. They did state that everything was confirmed on their end and they couldn’t see where any possible error would have happened. I feel as though this hotel scammed me into paying a higher rate and would not uphold my booking through a discount site. I am very disappointed in this experience and feel taken advantage of. Additionally, the location seemed sketchy and the room, though large and clean, had marks on the door to appear as if a break in had occurred before. Long story short, would never recommend and will not go back.
