This stay was a nightmare.
Liked: nothing
Disliked: The hotel was old and rundown. I had previously stayed at a Rodeway Inn in Ventura that was south of the 101 and fairly modern, with well-trained staff. "Neil" at the front desk was unprofessional and not interested in the needs of me, the guest. I am disabled, and it said so on the reservation. When I checked in, he said that he was putting me in an accessible room, but that the only handicapped space was being taken by the previous night's guest, whose vehicle had broken down and couldn't be moved. He walked me to the back, where my room was. Indeed, the only handicapped space was taken up by an old van, which was obviously being lived in by a scruffy-looking woman. There was an extension cord dangling from the room just above (the handicapped space was in a carport with another space, designated for a special type of guest). She and a scruffy looking man were hanging around the vehicle, and some luggage was in front of her car on the floor of the carport. There was no handicapped placard or license plate, and I mentioned this to the man. I called the front desk and began to describe the situation, and Neal indicated his complete awareness, asking me why it bothered me. He said that the second story room was occupied by a worker that was renovating the rooms on the property, and that lodging was part of the payment. (One of the two staircases was blocked with yellow emergency tape.) I went out to dinner, and when I returned, the vehicle had been moved to the space next to my car. I called the front desk to report this, and again Neal questioned me about my concern. Very late that night, the vehicle was moved. My objection was paying $100 a night for a seedy motel with a homeless person encamped on my doorstep. I was afraid for my safety and that of my vehicle, because I am certain that Neal told them that I had complained.

Liked: There was nothing that I liked about this hotel.
Disliked: It looked filthy from the outside. People were living in the rooms and dealing and doing drugs. There was evident gang activity on the grounds.
