The room was nice; the bed was comfortable and the historic building was beautiful. Sketchy neighborhood.

We love staying at the Mondale when going to concerts at the Bing Crosby Theatre. There is an amazing restaurant, 'the Guilded Unicorn' in the hotel and it is less than a 5-minute walk to the venue.
Liked: Love this hotel! The ambience, the historical feel, the rooms, the service people - it is all top notch.

Not a bad hotel, especially if you're seeing a show at the Knitting Factory across the street. Would recommend.
Liked: The room was cleaned and well maintained.
Disliked: The floors above us were super loud and creaky. Didn't get much sleep.

Nice short stay on our...
Liked: Lovely historic hotel with historic furnishings and art pieces - a welcome departure from the usual corporate decor. Staff was helpful and friendly, and hotel was conveniently located within walking distance to a number of downtown Spokane attractions.
Disliked: Toiletries were cheap (Dove soap); would prefer sustainable fixed containers of soap, shampoo, etc.

Liked: The well maintained classic old building, the central atrium is really cool.
Disliked: A couple times it was hard to find a staff person, once found they were generally really good.

Lovely Night Out
Liked: This was our 3rd stay at The Montvale. It is a beautiful old hotel that has been touched up and has so much charm. The rooms are always clean and the staff is always kind. Their location downtown is always a big plus for us. If you want a beautiful, comfortable evening this is the place for you.

Nice place, not so nice...
Liked: Room was nice and clean and the hotel was very quiet.
Disliked: Our check-in experience was less than stellar. My son and I arrived at around 4:30pm to an empty lobby other than the front desk staffer. We weren't greeted with a welcome, how are you doing, etc - just a hey and I need ID and CC. It was like the line at the DMV, no personality, no nothing - I guess he was bored or more accurately ill trained. We were flying out the next day around noon and I asked him how things were looking -he was all gloom and doom - no way were we flying out the next day, nice..... I booked a 2 queen room, when we entered it looked like a one king room. Went back to the lobby to be told that's what I booked - oh and by the way there's a Murphy bed - really?, thanks for letting me know during check-in. I guess he thought I somehow new the schematics for every room they had. Anyway, we did fly out the next day and were glad to leave.

Liked: Beautiful decor and history. Friendly staff. Safe. And on a freezing night it was so perfect to take the elevator to the basement for a delicious meal at the Gilded Unicorn.
Disliked: No. I can't wait to go back.

Exceptional
Liked: Despite being downtown, the place was quiet. The rooms were furnished with lovely unique furniture. Beds were comfortable with nice linens. The room very clean. The atrium was a wonderful area in which to relax - so much nicer than a typical hotel lobby. It was also nice to be in a small hotel that felt cozy. Parking was easy.
Disliked: Nothing
