A pleasant stay marred by...
Liked: The hotel is in a great location and has beautiful lobbies. Our room was nice with one exception (noted below). Parking was right on site. It was easy to get in and out of the hotel with our room key.
Disliked: This nice hotel had run out of soap! When we were checking in I saw another guest ask for something and receive a small bottle of liquid, but I didn't put it together that I would need to do the same. I got to our room and when I went to wash my hands found no soap on the sink or in the shower. I put 2 and 2 together and realized what the other guest had been asking for and why, so went back to the check-in desk just behind yet another guest going for the same reason, who was given the last (already-opened) small plastic bottle. The staff person apologized to me that they were out of soap, "expecting a delivery tomorrow," and recommended I go get some soap at the 7-11 down the block (which I did, buying their last bar of Dove soap). I was quite disappointed that there was (a) no proactive acknowledgement of the soap situation made when I checked in; (b) no offer to find a way to get soap and have it sent to our room; and (c) no offer to compensate me for the cost and inconvenience. Granted, I took the bar of soap home with me, so the cost ended up being a non-issue, but I felt like I was politely told, "yeah, I guess that's your problem, here's what I recommend."I imagine the circumstances of this happening may have been unusual and not representative of what one might usually expect at this hotel. But I was disappointed that the hotel staff were not more apologetic and proactive at ensuring my comfort as a guest.
