Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Stephanie, Regina Mon, 23 September 2013

I booked a room for me and my buddy (we're a lass and a lad). I booked online, and I got to choose the type of room I wanted. I obviously specified two double beds, and a non-smoking room. When we checked-in, it felt like we weren't expected. Timid girl at the front desk said hesitantly, "Well...all we have is a room with one queen bed. Will that be alright?". To which I immediately replied, "NO." We then explain that we are not a couple, and she tells us that there is also a room with two double beds, but it's smoking. At this point I'm getting ticked off. I ask her why the hell is the room I specifically asked for when booking not available? She explains that because it was done online, it basically just doesn't matter what you ask for on there. Well that makes a hell of a lot of sense, doesn't it? Too fed-up and tired at this point to argue with the girl, so we say, screw it, let's go with smoking. Holy hell. I'm pretty sure I got cancer just walking in that room. My buddy smokes and we were both disgusted. He scanned the bedspread with his flashlight, and dried liquid of....some sort....looked like blood and semen were both staring us in the face. I couldn't do it. There's no way I could stay in this room. So, I march back down to the front desk, tell her everything I just told you, minus the bedspread liquid. She says we can have the other room with the queen bed, and she'll give us a cot. Wicked. I don't give a crap by this time and say, "Fine." So that's what we did. At no point was a discount or anything ever offered, which having worked in customer service for years before, seems like that might've been a good thing to do. And if you book something online, and are given the option of CHOOSING the type of room you want - shouldn't it be listed somewhere that that is nonsense, you will get what is left? I was pissed and won't be back. She didn't even apologize. 200 bucks for two nights....great. Don't stay here.

Liked: Fridge kept the liquor cold.
Disliked: It was gross.

Very poor

Liked: The morning front desk staff was pleasant and friendly. The mattress was comfortable enough, and the water was hot.
Disliked: Where do I start. The place just gave me the creeps. Run down, dirty, people lurking about outside after midnight when I arrived - which made me feel uncomfortable walking from my car to the building, and leaving my car in the parking lot overnight. The checkin process, also a bit sketchy. The short walk to my room gave me the Icks!…and the room was even worse. Dirty, dusty, grimy. I kept my shoes on, and laid towels down on the surfaces to place my things. None of my belongings touched the floor except the bottom of my shoes. I hardly slept due to traffic and people noise. They start cleaning rooms around 8-8:30, which I find way too early for that place, given the walls are so thin. I will Never stay there again. Next time I’ll pay the extra 20 or 30, to at least feel comfortable for the night.

Very poor

Liked: It was available and allowed animals.
Disliked: Found a giant sex toy under the bed, too many junkies, TV didn't work, the whole place was run down and they will take your damage deposit over things that were broken before you even got there.
