You get what you pay for and this hotel was much less expensive than many others in downtown Chicago and had a parking lot with parking included. But the room had old nasty carpet and the walls were dinged up and peeling in places. The hairdryer nor exhaust fan nor vending machine worked. The room had a weird stale odor. Customer service was really good though. It wasn't terribly inconvenient to downtown and bed and pillows were comfortable!

Disliked: Outdated. Room had an odor.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Chicago South Loop. This was my 3rd time staying there and I will stay there again. I even passed up staying at our host hotel.

Liked: Free parking; location; clean and friendly staff.
Disliked: Not enough parking - if you come back late you have to park on the street.

Great place to stay; very convenient location. If you're not interested in staying in the heart of the city, but want to be in a convenient location, this is a great option at a great price.

Liked: Convenient to highway; great parking; large, clean room; beds were comfortable.
Disliked: TV was satellite and since it stormed our entire stay, interrupted TV service.

Liked: Staff was very friendly. We were able to check in early and get our day started. Room was large and roomy. Location was close to our son's campus. Free parking!
Disliked: No extra amenities; no pool, breakfast, restaurant, etc. Hotel is old and a bit run down, but not to the point of being dirty or uncomfortable.

No-frills effective place to crash...

Liked: Check-in staff was very helpful and gave us us lots of tips on things close to us, and how to get the bus to down town. One of the few hotels that offer free parking with a bus ride 10 minutes into the touristy spots of town. The staff were nice enough to allow us to keep our car in lot past checkout while we checked out the city.Bathrooms had decent soap and shampoo. Upgraded rooms were enough for what we were looking for - a place to crash for the night - beds and a couch to put our stuff on.
Disliked: I received an email a day before stating they have no restaurant or in-room wifi/cable amenities, but wasn't as concerned because we spent our time out exploring the city apart from a couple of hours of work I hot spotted from my personal phone. The hotel's business center, where I had to take a couple of meetings, the wifi was intermittent. Although they had signs up for a coffee station, that was unavailable as well.

Disliked: Stay Cation FAIL!! I’ve stayed at this property in the past and it was a decent staycation… however this is totally ridiculous, I don’t know what is happening… Deep soaker tub filled quickly-water was lukewarm at best…. So much for a relaxing experience there….Television small and horribly dated- but with NOTHING to watch… what hotel has no cable or entertainment for its guests?!?!?!…. The view of the parking lot only does so much…. So, I had no choice but to DoorDash a fire stick and have it delivered… was not informed of no tv options at booking… incurred additional cost purchasing a fire stick I don’t need and it is still struggling to connect to the spotty WiFi…. This diamond in the rough is all coal now…

Liked: Location was convenient, especially with the attached parking. Staff was friendly, helpful, and made our days every time we came in.
Disliked: The room service was quite expensive (about $30+ for a 12 inch pizza), and a few of the facilities that would made us interested (café/coffee bar) were not there anymore.
