Me and my girlfriend spent one night and were very pleased with our brief stay. Would definitely recommend the hotel to others, and if we found ourselves needing a place to stay in the Boston area would definitely stay at the Chandler Inn again.

Liked: Everything besides room temperature.
Disliked: Room was too hot - couldn't figure out how to turn the heat down.

Liked: Conveniently located; nicely decorated; cool bar downstairs.
Disliked: Bed was extremely uncomfortable.

Liked: We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel, but we did have supper downstairs which we enjoyed and we loved the location.
Disliked: Obviously a bigger room would have been better, but it was cozy and the space was well designed!Drinking water and a fridge would have been good in the room.

Liked: Location is pretty good. I love the bedding and cute decorations in the room.
Disliked: The facilities are really old and not that clean. There’s hairs from other guests on one of the pillow.

Run Down and Overpriced "Motel"

Liked: The room decor was innovative and the location-- though not as convenient as Copley Square-- was fun for us because the South End has special memories for me. They also put up a Happy Birthday banner and left some treats for us since it was my bday. That was very nice of them.
Disliked: This hotel is less nice than motels I have stayed in. The lobby is dumpy (the bar that's attached has cute decor, but the check in lobby is very plain.) The elevators are very old, and the hallways and stairs are old and run down-- this used to be I'm guessing an apartment building for lower income people. The rooms are TINY-- as in no place to put your large suitcase on the floor since there is not enough floor space. The bathrooms are also the size of a 1/2 bath. Our first room had a shower with no water pressure and not enough hot water, and then the water didn't drain, and it accumulated to the point that it almost flooded the room. The tiny sink also didn't drain. We asked to switch rooms and then got a better shower (most pressure and hot water) but still drainage issues and this time the toilet didn't work-- it got backlogged. In addition, the tiles were stained through the bathroom. (I posted pictures to show the stained tiles and the tiny area between the wall and the bed allowing no room for suitcases without tripping.)When I went to talk to the front desk about our first room, I mentioned the plumbing issue. The guy (Jeff) said he would look into and then never did. Later that day, there was no record of our concern, so nothing had been done. Jeff also had said that we couldn't switch rooms since they were fully booked, which turned out to be incorrect. No one at the front desk seemed to know what was going on or cared about their guests. They just laughed when we mentioned a concern. I'm used to much better service. Given the price, I would go elsewhere. This is like a run-down 2 star motel that has a few nice decorating touches to distract guests from the fact that it's just a run down building that doesn't work.

Liked: Everything was perfect with this hotel. We had some problems and ended up arriving at 5 am in the morning, and Bob, the person in charge of the shift at that time, made an exception and checked us in, since we were traveling from Argentina. Everyone in this hotel are so so nice and friendly. New fav hotel in Boston. If you have the chance, came here.
