Beautiful rare architecture, great location, decently clean, but a lack of care makes it feel sad.

Liked: With these classic motels you know you are getting shabby and beat up midcentury gems, that is part of the charm of this retro experience. The little things that are cheap and easy to make better is where these kinds of motels separate themselves from each other. This motel has all the elements to be something really special but is lacking the care in the details to make it a real retro simple experience with comfort. That being said, the location is perfect! The original design very special and unique. For those two reasons it is a good choice. Everything in Wildwood is over priced for the value of stay and detail. But it is what it is. I would stay at this motel again for location and what is once meant, not for what it is now.
Disliked: It is a shame that no one has a clue on how to make this motel, and so many others in Wildwood, alluring with just minimal effort and minimal money. The lazy approach here hurts this motel and keeps for being a nice place to stay that is true to its heritage. Simple DIY can go a long long way to make this motel feel like the owners care about it. Again, this is a special motel for the architecture, a real example of that era that many people go to Wildwood to experience. If the owners cared this would be easy to fix up and make the value go up in many ways. Hard to tell if the problem is there is no money in these motels or if the owners are too spoiled with making easy money. Either way... this motel lacks care but wins on location and architecture.

It was worse than I expected, even for a motel.

Liked: How close it was to the beach and the boardwalk
Disliked: Everything, mold was everywhere, the shower had mold, the mattress. Can hear everything going on outside as if there was no wall there at all. Door wouldnt lock correctly. parking was awful, the parking lot was tiny and was set up like a grid so people were getting parked-in and stuck there for days. The owner was intoxicated all the time, when we checked in, when we checked out, he just completely out of it.
