Got in to town early (10:30 AM) and they let us check in to our room. Hotel and room are older but very clean. We loved all the windows and the fridge came in handy. The price was $100 cheaper than any other place that was within 1/2 mile of the Civic Auditorium. The staff was great - they gave us maps and directions of places to go. There are restaurants and bars close; never felt unsafe, even walking around at 1:00 in the morning.

Having a drink with friends at a downstairs bar - sounds great until you want to sleep and the bar is open past two. Otherwise the room was clean, nice decor and 10 minutes walking from Bill Graham Aud.

Compared to hotels of the price and star level in the area, this one is a good deal. It is clean, safe and spacious, and although it is a 5 min walk south of Market Street, the neighborhood is great compared to some more centrally located hotels. I would happily stay here again.
