Hotel Reviews of Victoria House Hotel

I can't mark my stay any higher due to the evenings experiences.
The Hotel is ideally located, and staff were friendly on arrival. The room was visually clean and tidy. Breakfast was prompt and was fairly good.
The street outside was extremely busy as is to be expected on a Friday night given the location of the hotel. During the night I found I was struggling to breathe I am unsure whether this is because of the air supply in the room or something that had been used on the bedding. The consequence of this was that I had to sleep with the second layer of double glazed window open all night and the noise of the club which is located just next door and the pub over the road made for a disrupted nights sleep. This is something that never happens to me so was completely unexpected. Following breakfast which we had ordered for 8am with the hope of starting our day early we tried to sleep a little longer but were awoken by the cleaner wanting to come and clean the room when we weren't due to check out till 11!

We went to oxford 2 c the Moody Blues in concert at the New Theatre,I chose the location because we go away to relax and do not wish to drive after arrival. The concert was superb and the burger after was really tasty, the burger place was right nxt to the hotel. The car park was secure, but when we went to get our car in the a.m.a homeless person had made his bed up against the door , So we had to use electric sliding door to get in,Not an inconvenience but my partner felt nervous about the location and its occupant. All together the chosen hotel was ok , Shame it was un-manned after 10pm and when i rose to get a paper at 6.30 am the main door was wide open,So no security at all and anyone could have got in and caused havoc.I guess another guest left the door open.!!
just across the road was our concert venue,so once in hotel we could relax, underground car park was easily found and not too far from hotel, plenty of food places around so eating was good but expensive.
photo on yr website is out of date, they do not have a large sign above the door anymore only very small entrance with small plaque 4 hotel.Bizarre list of damage charges in hotel room guide, very expensive to replace plain white cups and saucers in oxford ?? Made us nervous to even move around in case we accidentely knocked something over!!Stairs were a bit daunting as we were put on 3rd floor but then we heard no noise from nite club,so swings and round-a-bouts there. It was very expensive for an room with just a shower and tea/coffee facilities and the decor had definately seen better days.

This hotel should not be called a hotel and I have stayed in hotels all over the world , this is by far the worst value for money and I have a good mind to inform the Tourist Board so that they can blacklist you.
Secure entry with own key
No adequate table to put breakfast tray on except on the bed ! Shower room had mould on the tiles and they were cracked. The shower head was rusty and noisy. The noise from the pub opposite went on till 2am on a Thurs. night and 4 am on a Friday night with drinkers shouting and playing extremely loud music just outside the pub.
