Fabulous - restful stay in luxurious accom.
Very friendly and helpful owner. Great breakfast to!
As a non smoker, good smell some cigarettes but not intrusive

Perhaps this was due to a miscommuniction between 'active hotels' booking service and the hotel, but whereas my booking comfirmation told me that I had successfully booked a double room, I was given a single room by the hotel.

The room was very good, I booked a single but it came with a 3/4 bed and had been recently decorated. I generally try and book hotels with a restaurant being a single female business traveller I don't particularly like looking for pubs or restaurants in the area I am staying which is one reason I booked here. However, they are undergoing a major refurbishment and the restaurant was closed. The reception was located within a bar area (due to the refurbishment) and access to the rooms was via a spiral emergency staircase at the side of the hotel and it was a bit of a struggle getting up to the room with my bags in the rain. The lighting at the top of the spiral staircase was non-existent and as it was dark when I arrived was rather dangerous. I'm sure that once the renovations are completed the hotel will be a very pleasant place to stay, it would have been useful if information was given before booking that a refirb was going on and that all the facilities were not available.
Room was recently decorated
Hotel going through a major refirbishment

This is not a chin of hotels and thus gives a more personal feel. Rooms were clean and comfortable with good shower and toiletries. Breakfast substantial and nicely cooked with a good choice. Dinner stops at 9.30 but staff were veryb helpful in trying to ensure we were fed wither there or elsewhere if we couldn;t arrive by then. Late residents bar was good.I will defiintely stay there again
FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE, CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE ROOM

The friendly and helpful staff
The central heating was turned up too high making the rooms very hotThere was no lift and I find stairs very difficult as I am disabled
