bel hôtel ancien avec tout le charme de l'ancien
la chambre nécessiterait d'être remis au goût du jour avec des matériaux de salle de bain plus modernes et des papiers peints et des peintures refaites car l'ensemble fait usagé

Nice quiet area in the middel of Paris, near to Louvre and Jardin De Toulliere and only minutes away from high quality shopping areas.
Reception area, roomsize and equipement, location in central paris near louvre

The hotel was nice and clean, but old and creaky. The staff are freindly and accommodating with good enough english for us to get by. The location above all was unbeatable. It is easy walking distance to the Louvre and the river side, Place du Concorde, Notre Dame, St. Germain, The Pompidou Centre and the Champs Elysees. Ideal for evrything we wanted to see and experience. There are some very nice (though expensive) bars and cafes just by the hotel, inparticular Bar Ruc opposite the Hotel Du Louvre. More can be found in nearby areas if you wander around towards Les Halles and the Marais area. Good modern Shops/department stores are easy to find either side of the Opera house, 10 mins walk away, can't remember the street name. We travelled by Euro Star and it was very easy to get to and from the hotel on the Metro from Gare Du Nord. The 4th floor priviledge room we booked was nice and spacious with air con included (it was very hot weather and the road outside is very noisy if you leave the window open). Though the decor was tired and dated and the furniture was old and creaky, the antique style did give it a very parisian feel. It was all pretty standard quality throughout and there was no wow factor that we expected from the pictures. Overall it is a nice and pleasant hotel, but it is nothing amazing as the photo's and the 4 star listing leads one to expect - More a nice 3 star hotel (but with a 5 star location). I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to just relax, be able to walk around central Paris taking in the bustling atmosphere, cafe culture and doing the odd spot of tourism for a few days. One last tjought is the price - We got a 63% off deal for our room with the website and to be honest I wouldn't have paid much more than that. I liked the look of the Hotel du Louvre and expect i will try that hotel next as the location is almost the same.
